Prototyping
These are our original top three prototype ideas. We wanted to either utilize a tray style package or a bowl style package, exploring multiple dividing configurations for the chips and salsa compartments.

We began the prototyping process with a fully 3D printed bowl. I created the structural design in SolidWorks and 3D printed the structure to be representative of our final structure.

We decided to make the sides of the bowl shorter and less sloped, and these changed were reflected in my SolidWorks renderings of the bowl's thermoform molds.
The molds pictured above were 3D printed and used as thermoform molds to form the next prototype. PETG polymer sheets were used to thermoform the bowl, and the lidding is foil/PETG laminate given to us by Printpack.

Our final prototype utilizes the thermoformed tray created in prior steps, but includes applied graphics. The lidding was printed using an Acuity digital printer and the side labels were printed using a sticker printer.
